Dr. Allan A. De Fina grew up in the mile-square town of West New York, New Jersey. The town, located atop the cliffs of the Palisades, directly opposite of New York City, has panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline.
After moving around somewhat during his post-college years, Allan returned to his native town where he still enjoys the spectacular views. It was the view from his apartment window that inspired his first book of poetry for children, When a City Leans Against the Sky, published in 1997 by Wordsong Publishers/Boyds Mills Press, a division of Highlights for Children.
